A member of the Royal Family is set host this morning as the show continues to look for a permanent replacement for Holly Willoughby.

Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, will step in to present the show on Monday joining Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary on the famous sofa - but only for one day.

The 64-year-old has appeared as a guest before but is now stepping into a new role, with the wife of the Duke of York, Prince Andrew, also set to edit the show from the gallery, as writes Birmingham Live.

She said: “I’m looking forward to being there for the whole morning, and thrilled to be guest editing the show which will mean getting to explore some topics I’m passionate about.” This Morning boss Martin Frizell said: “I’m very happy for her to make some of my decisions on Monday.

"She has a great understanding of the show.” The Royal Family member had reportedly been lined up for ITV I'm A Celebrity but pulled out. Fergie, 64, wanted producers to ensure she was not asked about the Duke of York, who she still lives with. A senior ITV source said: “Execs pulled out all the stops to get a huge name and were agonisingly close to sealing the deal with the Duchess.

“But part of the attraction of getting someone with an interesting life story is that there’s always the possibility of sharing it with the campmates. For Fergie, the prospect of being put on the spot with millions watching at home was just too much. Neither side was willing to budge in the end.”

Fergie’s spokesman denied the claims. Her rep said: “There has been no such approach, she did not consider appearing and no discussions of the sort suggested have taken place.”
