Rory McIlroy refused to even look at Patrick Cantlay as tensions between the two simmer under the surface ahead of the Ryder Cup's final day.

Team Europe star McIlroy was left livid with his American counterpart, and in particular his caddie Joe LaCava, after their wild celebrations on Saturday. Team USA came back with a 3-1 win in the afternoon Fourballs to cut Europe's advantage to five points going into the final day - and leaving them with an outside chance of overturning the deficit.

Cantlay and his partner Wyndham Clark beat McIlroy and Matt Fitzpatrick on the final hole of the day to put USA on 5.5 points and McIlroy was seen getting into it with LaCava on the green. That preceded explosive scenes in the car park afterwards when a furious McIlroy had to be led away by his teammate Shane Lowry.

McIlroy tees off just 12 minutes after Cantlay on Sunday and was seen walking past the American as he prepares to take on Sam Burns. But footage showed McIlroy not even looking in his rival's direction, staring straight ahead and refusing to acknowledge him as he made his way up the green.
