Meghan Markle is embarking on a comeback to the entertainment industry and she says she’s “thrilled” with the move after stepping down as a working royal in 2020.

The Duchess of Sussex has announced she’s starting a production company with Prince Harry, and they have lots of projects “on the slate”.

Meghan and Harry have been in the US since they announced their shock decision and have been rubbing shoulders with Hollywood’s biggest names since their move to the celebrity enclave of Montecito, California.

They still have an ongoing £100 million contract with Netflix despite losing a similar one with streaming giant Spotify earlier this year.

And last night, Meghan attended Variety magazine’s Power of Women gala in LA. Meghan looked super stylish in a beige gown and had her long locks tied back in an on trend ‘clean girl aesthetic' look.

The mum-of-two joked as she walked the red carpet of the glitzy event that she was having a “mom’s night out”, as she laughed and replied “exactly” when asked if that’s what she was doing by a reporter from Entertainment Tonight.

Meghan said: “We have so many exciting things on the slate. I can't wait until we can announce them, but I'm just really proud of what we're creating.

"I think the more we support each other it just amplifies the work, amplifies our community and I’m just thrilled to be back in it and to be able to sit in this room and be in such good company tonight.”

Yesterday, Netflix dropped the first half of the final season of The Crown, which features the final months of Princess Diana’s life, before she was tragically killed in a Paris car crash with boyfriend Jodi Fayed in August 2007.

Meghan was asked how Harry is feeling about their continued partnership with the streaming site, as reports the Mirror, and she replied: “My husband is loving it too which is really fun."

Having already created six-part documentary-series Harry and Meghan for Netflix, as well as a documentary about the Invictus Games earlier this summer, Meghan also went on to talk about how she feels “really proud” about the productions she and Harry already have under their belts at their Archewell Productions company.

Harry and Meghan were left shocked when their $20 million multi-year deal with Spotify came to an end earlier this year. Following the news, the site’s head of podcast innovation, Bill Simmons, branded them “grifters”.

He added: “ I've got to get drunk one night and tell the story of the Zoom I had with Harry to try and help him with a podcast idea. It's one of my best stories.” The end of the contract meant Meghan’s Archewell podcast ended after just one season. The pair have now bought the rights to bestselling book Meet Me At The Lake by author Carley Fortune, which they plan to turn into a Netflix film.

Other projects are yet to be announced.
