Kirkcudbright Academy recently took its S1 pupils on two activity days to Abernethy Barcaple.

For the last three years, all S1 pupils have been taken on a trip during the autumn term to help them build new friendships, develop self-confidence and to experience and learn about leadership skills.

During their days at Barcaple, the students were divided into four teams before taking part in raft building and sailing, wall climbing and archery.

Each team was supported by a Rotarian who assisted the instructors throughout the day as well as encouraging the youngsters to get involved as and when this was necessary.

The trip was sponsored by Kirkcudbright Rotary Club which, together with a significant discount generously provided by Abernethy Barcaple, meant that there was no cost to the young people involved.

At the end of each day, the whole group assembled to thank the instructors.

On both days each Rotarian who had been attached to a team named one team member who they felt had made the most significant contribution to their team before awarding them with an Abernethy Barcaple T-shirt.
