Just Stop Oil eco-yobs have disrupted play at Wimbledon after storming onto Court 18 this afternoon as they continue to protest at major sporting events. .

Activists rushed onto the turf from the stands, hurling orange confetti in the air during the clash between Sho Shimabukuro and Grigor Dimitrov. The pair were were locked in a tense battle at the time with Dimitrov leading by one set when play was suspended.

Just a week after three were arrested at Lord's early on day one of the second Ashes Test - including one man who was carried off the pitch by England's Jonny Bairstow - they have struck again at SW19. The protestors were carried off the pitch following the invasion. In a later game between Katie Boulter and Daria Saville another protestor spread orange confetti over the surface as play was halted.

The first-round match on Court 18 for the British number one was stopped due to someone on the court. The game had been pushed to Wednesday after a 5-5 draw was halted due to rain the previous day.
