Google has begun rolling out its major Android 14 software to Pixel phones, meaning Samsung Galaxy owners are to see a major update.

The operating system will bring a selection of new customisation options to devices for ultimate personalisation - as well as improvements to battery life, graphics and lock screen options. Available on Pixel models now, the release will be issued to other Android phones in a month's time.

Users can find out if the update is available for their phones in a few quick steps. Once downloaded, a range of new customisation options will be available at your finger tips - including the ability to generate AI wallpapers.

The Mirror reports that users can expect battery life to increase between charges, thanks to changes made by Google to reduce energy draining background activity.

To find out if the new update is ready for your device, just head to the Settings app on your phone and then tap System > System Update.

A page should open which includes a 'Check for update' button. If you tap this and nothing comes up, don't worry as it just means that Android 14 hasn't been made available on your device yet.

For those lucky Pixel phone owners - and the mega-keen Google fans who have already ordered the brand new Pixel 8 phone - you can get your hands on this new update starting today. Just ensure that you use your charger and connect to Wi-Fi before installing it in order to avoid draining your data and battery.

There are no exact timings for the release of Android 14 on Samsung devices although the firm is currently testing its version of the software called One UI 6.

It's expected to launch on devices before the end of 2023 and below are all phones that are compatible:
